A jobless Filipino was returned to custody after appearing Tuesday at Kowloon City Court to answer a case of possession of five fake $100 bills.
Ray Onate Jr., 35 years old and has no fixed address, is
accused of violating section 100(2) of the Crimes Ordinance, which punishes the
“custody of counterfeit notes or coins” with up to three years in prison.

The charge arose arose after police officers on patrol
accosted Onate while he was on Woo Sung St in Yau Ma Tei last July 10 and found
the fake dollar bills in his possession.
Seized from him were three fake $100 HSBC notes and two $100 Bank of China notes, which he had
in his custody “without lawful authority,” the police complaint said.
