UPDATED: Police have confirmed reports that a 46-year-old Filipina domestic worker hanged herself to death with a nylon rope on Wednesday, May 8, at One Beacon Hill, Kowloon City.
According to the police, a security guard at 1
Beacon Hill Road made a report at 3:48pm on the said day after the Filipina was
found in the kitchen of Unit 1 of the estate.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene immediately released the body but upon examination, found that the victim had already passed away.
Subsequent reports said the Filipina named Mary Jane, a single mother of four from Tagum City, Davao, was first discovered by her employer.

No suicide note was found at the scene and an
investigation is underway into the cause of death.
This is the third apparent suicide of a Filipina domestic worker in as many months.
On April 13, a 27-year-old Filipina known to many in
the community as comely and bubbly, was found hanging on a leather belt in her
employer’s flat in Tsuen King Circuit,
Tsuen Wan.

On March 18, a 30-year-old helper was also found to
have hanged herself with a scarf in the washroom of her employer’s flat in Allway
Gardens, Tsuen Wan.
In between these two incidents, another Filipina
reportedly tried to kill herself by downing bleach. The 39-year-old helper was
found half-conscious inside her bedroom at her employer’s flat at Villa Monte
Rosa estate on March 27, and was rushed to hospital.
