Hong Kong Police have confirmed that a 12-year-old Filipina girl who was reported to have died in Kwun Tong yesterday, Oct. 17, had fallen from the rooftop of a building.
The girl was found face down outside number 47 Ka Lok Street in Kwun Tong by the building’s security guard who immediately contacted the police.

Rescuers rushed the unconscious girl to United
Christian hospital where she was confirmed dead.
“After a preliminary investigation, personnel
believe the subject fell from the rooftop of the site,” said a police
statement.

Police said no suicide note was found at the
scene and that her cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
However, some reports suggested academic pressure may
have caused distress to the girl, leading her to take her own life

A few hours later, a 13-year-old local boy
studying at Pui Ching Middle School in Ho Man Tin was also found to died after falling
from a height within the school premises.
Faculty members immediately reported the
incident and paramedics who responded rushed the unconscious student to
hospital.

Despite efforts to revive him, the student who sustained
severe injuries from the fall, was pronounced dead at 2.25 pm.
School officials are now looking into the case
to better understand events that led to the tragedy.
