Latest flight chart at HK Airport shows there are still no flights in and out of HK |
The Airport Authority says it has started to prepare for the gradual resumption of flights to and from Hong Kong Saturday, even as T8 remains in force across the city.
Chapman Fong, deputy director of airport operations,
told RTHK they have devised a flight re-allocation mechanism which will handle
about 480 flights.

A total of 460 inbound and outbound flights were
cancelled just before 3pm Friday, while T8 was in force.
The typhoon signal was raised to T9 at 6:40pm, and
to T10 in less than two hours as Super Typhoon Saola began hammering Hong Kong.
It was lowered back to T8 just after 3am today,
after Saola was downgraded to severe storm, and moved towards southern Guangdong,
packing winds of about 200km per hour.

It made landfall in Zhuhai overnight with winds
slowing to around 160 kph.
The Hong Kong Observatory said the typhoon signal is not likely to be lowered before 4pm today.
Fong urged travellers to check their flight status,
noting that because T8 was still in force, the public transportation system has
yet to resume normal operations.

Some airlines also said there might be delays in
their flight schedule due to unstable weather.
Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Department continues to
operate 40 temporary shelters in various districts, and as at 9am today, 505
people have sought refuge at the shelters.

The Government’s 1823 Call Centre and the Leisure
and Cultural Services Department received 121 reports and two reports of fallen
trees respectively.
The Drainage
Services Department received 18 confirmed cases of flooding. In addition, as at
9am, no report of landslide has been received.

At the same time, the Hospital Authority reported
that a total of 63 people, comprising 34 men and 29 women, sought treatments at
public hospitals during the typhoon period.
