Family and friends of the victim rushed to Eastern Hospital where the victim was declared dead |
A 19-year-old Filipino male was found drowned while swimming with friends in Sai Kung yesterday afternoon.
The police received a report from hikers in the area
at 3:35pm about a person who drowned at Sheung Lok’s Four Pools on Sai Wan
Road. The victim was fished out of the waters by his friends and hikers.

Officers who arrived at the scene found the victim unconscious,
and immediately administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but failed to
revive him.
A helicopter from the Government Flying Service dispatched
to the area then flew him to the Pamela Youde Nethersole (Eastern) Hospital in
Chai Wan, where he was certified dead at
5:09pm.

The police say an autopsy will be conducted to
determine the exact cause of death.
About three hours after the tragedy, friends and
family members of the drowned teenager were seen to gather tearfully at the
accident and emergency department at PYNEH.

A number of them looked like they had rushed to the
hospital from the beach, while others appeared to have gone them from work.

Earlier reports said the victim and three of his friends had gone swimming at Pool No 3 at Sheung Lok’s four Pools. It was not clear how he got separated from the rest of the group, and drowned.
