A 30-year-old Filipino man working as a gardener in a palatial home in Shek-O is fighting for his life in hospital after he apparently cut his throat with a meat cleaver this morning.
According to the
police, they received a call at 9:43 this morning (Friday) from a co-worker of
the suspected suicide victim, saying the victim was found lying in his bed at their
employer’s house at No 10 Big Wave Bay Road, Shek-O.

Officers who
arrived at the scene found the victim half-conscious, and immediately rushed
him to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan for treatment.
A police report
said it was a suspected suicide, although no suicide note was found at the
scene.

A Filipina
domestic worker who said she is acquainted with the three Filipinos working as
gardeners at the same house said the victim was likely J., a soft-spoken young
man who did not at all appear troubled.
She said she had
been trying to reach out to the other Filipino workers in the house to check on
J’s condition, but has been told that they are still consulting their employer
about the case.

still investigating the exact cause of the victim’s attempted suicide.
