A total of 11 people were arrested during two days of anti-illegal work operations conducted by the Immigration Department on June 19 and 20.
According to a press statement from the Department,
ten suspected illegal workers, all men aged between 22 to 45 years old, were arrested, along
with an employer aged 32.
Among those arrested in raids on 40 locations
including car parks, commercial and residential buildings, restaurants and
warehouses, were seven suspected illegal workers and the lone employer.

Two of the suspects were holders of recognizance
forms, which prohibit them taking up any work;
In a separate operation, three people from the
Mainland, two women and one man who came in as visitors, were arrested while selling goods on two roads
in Sheung Shui.

Immigration again warned that visitors should not take up any job, whether paid or unpaid. Any violators can be jailed for up to two years and fined $50,000.
Overstayers or those on recognizance, which means
they are under a removal or deportation order, face a maximum penalty of up to
three years in prison and fine of $50,000.

Those found to have employed illegal workers can get
jailed for up to 10 years, and fined a maximum of $500,000.
