A choir from the Philippines will give a free concert at Bayanihan Centre in Kennedy Town this Monday, May 1, starting at 1pm, as a tribute to all overseas Filipino workers.
The Vocalismo Choral Group, under the baton of Prof.
Lester Frederick Delgado, and made up mostly of music graduates of University
of Santo Tomas, was among the five finalists in the Aliw Awards’ search for the
Best Choral Group in 2019.
The choir has also performed at various local and
international events since 2010.

Catherine Marsden, founder of Hong Kong-based Teatro
Filipino, said she asked the choir to sing for OFWs as a treat to them on
Labour Day.
But the main reason they are coming is for an equally
noble cause, which is to raise funds for the medical needs of the nuns at Poor
Clare Sisters Monastery on Lamma Island. The congregation has been serving the
community in Lamma for the past 23 years.
“I just arranged for them to sing at Bayanihan para sa
mga kababayan natin,” Marsden said.
