Total occupancy in acute hospitals is now at 106% |
The Hospital Authority reported on Sunday that the overall occupancy of beds in acute hospitals is now at around 106%, meaning they now have more patients that they would normally admit.
The report was made as a total of 16,023 new Covid-19 patients were recorded, of which 876 were imported cases. The previous day’s tally was 15,774.

Forty new Covid-related deaths were also reported.
The new infections drove up the number of patients with Covid-19 who were admitted in public hospitals. As of Saturday, a total of 3,908 patients were already in hospital for treatment.

Among the new patients, 15 were critically ill while 22 were in serious condition. They took to 122 the total number of patients in critical condition, of which 38 are in intensive care. .
There were also 116 patients in serious condition.

Latest figures showed that 520 patients were admitted Saturday, while 337 had been treated and discharged.
Of the additional imported cases, 771 tested positive on PCR tests and 105 on rapid antigen tests.

An overwhelming majority, or 600 of the cases, were asymptomatic.
There were a total of 526 patients who tested positive on arrival at the airport, 280 on samples during Day 1 to Day 3, and the remaining 70 on Days to 7.

So far, Hong Kong has recorded a total of 3.35 million cases of Covid-19, and 11,171 related deaths.
