The theft case was heard in Kwun Tong court |
A Filipina domestic worker appeared in Kwun Tong court
on Wednesday, Oct 27, charged with stealing an assortment of jewelry from her
employer said to be worth a total of $384,000.
Ligaya Ao-wat Banisal, 42, did not enter any plea and
was remanded in custody until her next court appearance on Dec. 13.

According to the charge sheet, Banisal stole the following pieces of jewelry from the flat of her employer, Hui Sau-ling on 38th floor, Tower 2, Hemera, Lohas Park, between January 2021 and Oct 16, 2022, when she was arrested - 18 gold bangles, 2 gold necklaces, 5 gold bracelets, 2 rings, 4 gold rings and 9 necklaces.

Banisal was first charged in court on Oct. 18, or two
days after the alleged theft.

Under Hong Kong laws, the maximum penalty for the
crime of theft is 10 years.
