Officers gather suspected illegal workers arrested during an operation |
Twenty persons were arrested in the latest series of raids conducted by Immigration and police officers against illegal workers in three operations on Sept. 5 to 8.
Those arrested included 12 suspected illegal workers, five suspected employers, two suspected aiders and abettors and one overstayer.
During the Immigration Department operations codenamed
"Lightshadow" and "Twilight" Immigration Task Force
officers raided 59 target locations such as a bakery factory, a container yard,
garbage collection depots, an industrial building, premises under renovation, a
recycling yard, restaurants, retail shops and a warehouse.

Eight suspected illegal workers and four suspected employers were arrested. The suspected illegal workers comprised four men and four women, aged 33 to 62.
One man and three women, aged 34 to 52, were suspected of
employing the illegal workers and were also arrested.
In the joint operation with the Hong Kong Police Force
codenamed "Champion", officers raided 21 target locations in Central
and Western District, including commercial buildings, restaurants, retail shops
and wet markets.

The suspected illegal workers comprised two men and two
women, aged 33 to 55. Among them, one man was a holder of a recognizance form,
which prohibits him from taking any employment.

One man, aged 38, was suspected of employing the illegal
workers while one man and one woman, aged 62 and 67, were also arrested for aiding
and abetting persons who breached their conditions of stay in Hong Kong. In
addition, one female overstayer, aged 37, was also arrested.
