Under this system, all arriving travelers who test negative at the Hong Kong airport will be given a yellow code to cut their hotel quarantine, possibly to either four or five days.
But in his statement today, Lo said the yellow code will also cover close contacts of Covid-19 patients.

The infected patients themselves will be given a red code to ensure they do not leave their homes or place of isolation.
The coding system will be tied to the LeaveHomeSafe contact tracing app to effectively screen out infected residents and those who should get the yellow code which restricts their access to certain premises.
Lo again stressed that the color code will allow those not infected more freedom to go around, while keeping Hong Kong’s adherence to preventing the importation of cases.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Health Protection an additional 4,547 cases, of which 226 were imported.
Among the imported cases, 118 were detected at the airport, 68 during hotel quarantine and 40 post-isolation.

According to Dr Lau Ka-hin of the Hospital Authority, the 89-year-old woman female patient was found collapsed at home and was certified dead at the hospital. Tests showed she was infected with the coronavirus.
Three days before her death she developed a fever and started to feel unwell, but she was not taken for medical consultation or tested for the virus. She had chronic illnesses, including stroke and breast cancer.
Lau again reminded everyone, especially the elderly, to get tested as soon as they start feeling unwell.
At the same time they should
consult with a doctor, either in person or online, to prevent serious
complications, even death.

As of this morning, another 164 Covid patients had been admitted to public hospitals, raising the number of those receiving treatment to 1,533.
Among them, 20 are in critical condition, including six in intensive care units; and 24 are in serious condition.
Lau said about 40 to 50 non-Covid patients had been transferred to private hospitals for treatment as part of the strategy to free up more beds for those who are infected with the virus.
He said 13 private hospitals will be providing 364 beds for non-Covid patients, and the transfer of patients from public hospitals will be made on a per-need basis.
