Covid testing resumed 2 hours after T8 was lifted |
Health authorities reported a
total of 2,227 new coronavirus cases Saturday, including 143 imported ones.
The report was made in a statement issued in place of the daily press
briefing which was canceled because of Typhoon Chaba.

Among the new cases, 714 were
confirmed through PCR tests and 1,370 were verified rapid antigen tests.
The tally from the fifth wave now stands at 1,237,7111.
Covid-related deaths also
rose to 9,192 for the same period after three additional deaths were reported
today. Overall, said the CHP statement, the death tally in Hong Kong is at
9,405.

The latest results from
genome sequencing analysis also found additional cases involving Omicron
sub-variants. Those who carry the BA.2.12.1 sub-variant now number 599; while
the tally for BA.5 cases has gone up to 75; and 35 for BA.4.

Flight TK070 operated by
Turkish Airlines has been suspended from flying to Hong Kong for five days
starting tomorrow after a number of passengers on its Jun 30 flight from
Istanbul tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival, breaching the government
threshold.

Meanwhile, no compulsory
testing notice was issued today because Storm Signal No 8 was in force.
However, community testing centers
resumed services two hours after the signal was lifted at 4:20pm. Mobile specimen
collection stations remain closed.

All CTNs that were set to be
complied with on Jun 29 and Jun when T3 was in force have been extended to Jul
3 and Jul 4, respectively.
