The 3 imported cases flew in aboard 2 separate Cebu Pacific flights from Manila |
For the first time in
months, no new death related to Covid-19 was reported by health authorities on
Saturday.
However, 278 new
infections were reported, including one from a growing cluster of cases from a Chinese
restaurant in Yuen Long.
Also among the new
cases were 18 imported cases, including 10 detected at Hong Kong airport.

Three passengers from
the Philippines were among those who tested positive at the airport. Two came
aboard 5J114, the evening flight of Cebu Pacific on Thursday, and one on 5J
272, the early morning flight on Friday.
Also among them were
three who took flight TK083 from Turkey through Bangkok, two on flight CX829
from Canada, and one each from flight JL735 from Japan and KL819 from the
Netherlands.
Meanwhile, genome
sequencing showed two more patients who arrived separately from Canada and the
US, both carried the Omicron sub-variants BA.2.12 and BA.12.1.

The patients, one male
and two females, arrived in Hong Kong between Apr 30 to May 3 and tested
positive at the airport.
In all, Hong Kong has
recorded 13 such cases, all of them imported.
Meanwhile, Dr Albert
Au of the Centre for Health Protection has identified the Covid-stricken restaurant
as Peony Golden Court, where three cases have been reported so far.

Two of them tested
positive on Tuesday, the other on Tuesday, and the last one on Thursday.

Seven of their close
contacts have been sent to a quarantine centre and one of them tested positive
on Friday.
About 190 other
customers who had been to the restaurant during that period and about 50
workers will be subjected to compulsory testing.

In the past 24 hours, 155 patients have recovered from Covid, and 106 of them have been discharged.
Since 2020, a total of 61,135 patients have recovered from Covid, and 60,483 have been discharged.
