32 new imported cases reported but no flight suspension |
Health officials have reported 280 new Covid-19 cases Wednesday, including 32 imported from overseas.
According to Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, the imported infections
included 16 detected on arrival at
Nine of those who tested positive on arrival came on six flights that arrived Tuesday, including one aboard 5J272 from the Philippines, one on JL029 from Japan, one on EK384 from UAE through Thailand, two on AI1314 from India, two on SQ894 from Singapore, and two on KE607 from Korea.

The new cases included 131 confirmed through PCR tests and 149 from rapid self-tests reported to the government platform. They took the total Covid-19 tally from the Omicron outbreak to 1,194,740.

Three more diners, aged 71 to 76, tested positive for Covid, taking the total number in the outbreak to 23. They include 20 patrons, one staff and two close contacts.
Meanwhile, the Hospital Authority has reported three new Covid-related deaths, including two from Tuesday, involving a 68-year-old man and a woman aged 86.
Another 90-year-old man who passed away on Apr 20 but whose death was not reported earlier was also included in the list.

The city’s death toll from the fifth wave of the pandemic now stands at 9,142.
HA’s Dr Sara Ho said 892 patients remain in public hospitals and treatment facilities. They include three who are in critical condition and are being treated in intensive care.
In the past 24 hours 130 patients have recovered from Covid.
