830 people were tested during the lockdown of Grand Promenade but no new cases were found |
A staff member of the
Russian Consulate General who yesterday tested preliminary positive for
Covid-19 with mutant strain is among six new confirmed cases reported today,
Oct 16.
The 55-year-old diplomat who is fully vaccinated, was on his 10th day of home quarantine at Tower 1 of Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho when he was found infected with the L452R mutant strain of the coronavirus.

He left Hong Kong on Aug 22 and returned on Oct 5.
An overnight lockdown of his residential building did not result to any new cases being found.
According to a press
statement by the CHP, 830 people were tested, but no one answered the door at
70 households.

The testing ended at 7am today, and two people were issued with fixed penalties of $5,000 each after they were found to have ignored the compulsory testing notice.

Also among today’s patients are three foreign domestic workers, two Filipinas and one Indonesian.
The first is a 35-year-old Filipina worker who came via 5J272 and tested positive on her arrival test at Hong Kong Airport.

The other Filipina is 34 years old and was on her third day in quarantine at Penny’s Bay when she tested positive. She flew in via 57272 on Oct 12.
The Indonesian, who is 38 years old, was at Silka Tsuen Wan hotel when she tested positive on her Day 3 test. She came from Jakarta via CX776 on Oct 12.

The two other patients are both returnees from the United Kingdom who came via VS206 on Oct 14 and tested positive on their arrival test. One is a 33-year-old female who was asymptomatic while the other is a 48-year-old male who developed symptoms on Oct 13.

All of the cases are classified as imported, and involved patients who were all fully vaccinated. Five have tested positive for mutant strains while the test result for one is still pending.
They took Hong Kong’s total confirmed cases to 12,291.

The CHP reminded that persons covered by a CTN on the following places must take their next test tomorrow, Oct 17: Two Island Place, North Point; Tung Yik building in Yuen Long and Block 20, Fortune Garden, also in Yuen Long.
