| Hotpot dinners are back on the menu after tonight's chilly weather |
Temperatures dropped to 21 degrees
in Hong Kong tonight, signaling the start of cooler weather after last month’s
ultra-hot days.
The Observatory forecast even cooler
weather later in the week, with the temperature dropping to 19 degrees
overnight on Friday and Saturday after some showers on Thursday.
Tomorrow will be mainly fine and
dry, with temperatures rising to a maximum of 27 degrees.
The outlook on Tuesday will remain mainly
fine, while Wednesday will be cloudy. There will be showers in the latter part
of the week, causing temperatures to fall significantly over the region.
The Observatory says a dry northeast
monsoon is responsible for the cold front that will be experienced in Southern
China in the next couple of days.
The cooler weather was widely
welcomed by residents who sweated under the hottest September ever recorded in
Hong Kong.
Not a few were seen ordering hotpot
for dinner tonight, while restaurants serving the favorite winter fare say they
are fully booked for the week.
