A longtime Filipina domestic helper has reportedly
hanged herself in her employer’s flat at no 3, Tai Wing Avenue, Tai Koo Shing
yesterday afternoon.
It was the second suicide by hanging of a Filipina
helper in five days, and the third in less than two months.
A spokesman for the Hong Kong Police said today, Oct. 3, that the helper,
who was 47 years old, was found by her employer hanged with a rope inside their
bathroom. The employer reportedly tried to bring her down but failed to do so.

The police who were called took her down, and when
they found her still breathing, rushed her to Pamela Youde Eastern Hospital in
Chai Wan, where she was declared dead.
The police spokesman said the helper had some personal
problems. It appeared she had an ongoing police case and also had a medical
condition, which both triggered her depression.
She was reportedly due to report back to the police for
a follow-up investigation when she passed out and was taken to hospital. She
was due to have an MRI screening yesterday when she was found dead.
