Free Covid-19 tests have been offered free to FDHs since middle of last year |
All foreign domestic helpers can avail themselves of one-off
free voluntary Covid-19 testing service that the Hong Kong
government has extended until Feb 28.
A statement issued today, Feb 5, by the Food and Health
Bureau said the service, which was originally extended to FDHs and construction
site workers, has now been extended to security and guarding personnel.
Eligible persons should make advance booking for the free
testing service via the community testing centre website: www.communitytest.gov.hk. Those
who did not make an appointment have to pay $240 for the testing service.
The Bureau said those who received free testing last December and January can take
the test again, which will be offered from Feb 6 to 28. During this period,
each eligible person can receive free testing service once only.
A spokesman for the Bureau said the free testing had been
extended following positive public response to the tests offered in the past
two months.
“Having considered the ongoing epidemic situation in Hong Kong, we considered it necessary to expand and
extend the relevant testing arrangements,” he said.
He said eligible persons can choose a suitable time slot
taking into account their own needs. If they have symptoms, they should seek
medical attention immediately and undergo free testing provided by the government
on doctor’s advice.
The community testing centers are open daily from 8am to 1:30pm
and from 2:30pm to 8pm, with slight adjustments during the Lunar New Year.
