Elmo's studio is located in this building on Des Voeux Road Central |
The remains of Elmo, the Filipino musician and sound studio
owner who police said hanged himself to death in Sheung Wan, will be
flown home for funeral services and cremation.
But his ashes will be brought back to Hong
Kong where his wife and their two children live, according to
sources in the Filipino community.
The parents, siblings, relatives and friends of the 40-year-old
victim reportedly want to pay their final respects to him, hence the funeral
services and his cremation in his native Laguna.
Elmo, who owned a sound studio and pub in a commercial
building at 214 Des Veoux Road Central,
was found dead by his 45-year-old Filipina wife at about 6:48pm on Feb 23.
The police said the victim used a wire to hang himself from
the ceiling of his studio where he used to entertain customers in
jamming sessions where he was the sound mixer.
Elmo, who used to be a family driver, also gave guitar
lessons to members of the community.
But he is most fondly remembered by many for helping Filipino
migrant workers in their times of need.
One cancer patient who used to work for him and his wife
expressed her grief in a post on Facebook shortly after news of his death
reached her.
The woman said in her post that she couldn’t forget the day
when Elmo had to take leave from work so he could escort her back to the Philippines .
“Ito yong pic nong nagkasakit ako sa Hong
Kong , siya talaga yong nag-volunteer na ihatid ako sa Pinas kahit
may work dapat siya non. Share ko lang to, ang sobrang lungkot ko at masakit
lang isipin ang biglaang pagkawala nya,” the woman said.
“Hindi lang ako ang natulungan kundi ang dami na rin sa iba
namang paraan.”
Elmo’s friends in Hong Kong ,
as well as his employer, are raising funds needed to repatriate his
remains.
