Christmas is in the air, and Pintura Circle enjoins Filipino domestic
workers to prepare for the festive season by taking some lessons on baking
Christmas cookies, and making unique decorations.
The first lesson on Christmas Cookie making will be held at
the Philippine Consulate this coming Sunday, Nov. 10, from 12:30 to 5:00pm.
The next Sunday, Nov. 17, PC will hold a class on making
Christmas decorations, from silver and crystal tree accessories to table
runners. The lessons will be held at Rm 303, YWCA at 1 Macdonnell Road , Mid-Levels, from
12:30-3:30pm.
The 30 slots available will be filled on a first-come,
first-serve basis. A joining fee of $50 per participant will pay for the materials
to be used in making the decorations. Each
participant will go home with the finished decoration and runner, and a list of
suppliers for the materials in Hong Kong .
Conducting both lessons will be PC President Abigail
Camaya-Hills.
The lessons are part of PC’s continuing effort to provide
art and livelihood training for free to Filipino migrant workers.
The previous Sunday, Nov. 3, the group also sponsored a
workshop on Recycling and Upcycling Glass Bottles with Ron Cristal at the
Visual Arts Centre on Kennedy Road ,
Mid-Levels.
