Restaurant fined for hiring DH

14 May 2016

A court in Shatin ordered a restaurant operator on May 6 to pay a fine of $35,000 for hiring a Filipino domestic worker.
The registered owner of the restaurant, Eureka F&B Ltd., was convicted of employing a person not lawfully employable, in breach of Hong Kong immigration rules.
According to records read in court, the domestic helper was caught by immigration officers washing a metal sink in a restaurant on Queen’s Road Central.
The prosecution did not identify the domestic worker involved.
However, an Immigration Department spokeswoman said the case was being dealt with separately by investigators, and that the offender would be prosecuted. – Vir B. Lumicao
